HOW MUCH OF MY DONATION DIRECTLY GOES TO VETERANS OR THOSE IN NEED?
When we originally founded BJL in 2021, we decided that we would not keep any monies that were raised. Everything gets put back to either the Iowa PVA, families in need, or to help with event costs. As a matter of fact, when we started this organization, we started everything out of our own pocket. ( we had to start somewhere right?)
I KNOW OF A VETERAN OR A FAMILY IN NEED. HOW DO YOU HELP?
From mowing lawns, to scooping sidewalks, to maybe helping pay a bill. Or even helping a veteran by getting them some mental health treatment. We will do whatever we can to help. We have made connections with some other great local organizations as well, so if we don't have the capability or answer, we will be able to point you in a positive direction. It all starts by sending us an email with a detailed request, and we will get the wheels in motion immediately.
WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE TO VOLUNTEER?
You must at least be 14yrs of age with parental consent, and we try to have one adult per 5 under age volunteers. The reasoning for this is sometimes our yearly poker run event can get pretty hectic and our volunteers get spread out to various locations. We keep safety in mind at all times.
